Visiting Horti Fair improves profitability in horticulture
Complete overview, new products, valuable contacts
Aalsmeer, 2 July 2010 – Visiting the Horti Fair in the Amsterdam RAI from 12 to 15 October inclusive must improve profitability for horticultural entrepreneurs. This is the goal of participants at this exhibition in the Netherlands, which is also one of the most international of horticultural trade fairs. A strong group of participants, the transfer of knowledge in special pavilions and a lot of attention for new products and services are distinctive elements at the Horti Fair 2010. Organization of the event is making good progress, certainly in the current economic climate, which is why the Horti Fair 2010 again promises to make a valuable contribution to doing business in horticulture.
In the year 2010 the Horti Fair will be the contemporary global horticultural platform for four whole days: for doing business, making new contacts and deepening existing ones. Furthermore, it is simply the best trade show for the exchange of knowledge and introduction of new products and services. Last year’s Horti Fair attracted more than 34,000 trade visitors from approximately 100 countries.
New site at www.hortifair.com
There is a new website at hortifair.com once more and it is an increasingly important instrument. The search function at product level, the exhibitors’ company profiles and the new products information at hortifair.com are unique among sites for horticultural trade fairs and the social media (LinkedIN, Twitter and Facebook) are occupying an even more important place on the site this year.
At least one of the Breakfast Briefings on subjects of current interest that are organized before the fair opens in the morning will be in English in 2010, which also applies to the debates and presentations in the House of Technology & Innovation.
Innovation platform
,,We have to go on innovating, also in these difficult times for national and international horticulture. In next generation greenhouse cultivation for example, that offers greenhouse horticulture the perspective of saving energy in combination with increasing production and improving product quality. More than ever, the trick is to bring affordable innovations onto the market. At the Horti Fair, we will be showing how we are achieving that at the Lek/Habo Groep,’’ says Aad de Koning, commercial manager at exhibitor the Lek/Habo Groep in Ter Aar (stand number 01.0404). The Lek/Habo Groep was nominated for the Horti Fair Innovation Award last year for the LT-overpressure system and ended in second place. ,,We are introducing innovations again this year that we very much want to show at the trade fair in Amsterdam,’’ announces De Koning.
Exhibitor Oerlemans Plastics from Genderen (stand number 03.0316) is presenting a new variation on the Vari-OP screen film introduced at last year’s trade fair and this exhibitor is also showing products like the Air-OP, which enables producers to apply the technique of next generation greenhouse cultivation more effectively. ,,Greenhouse horticulture is developing into more and more of a global market, due to the influence of internationalization. That makes the Horti Fair simply the best platform for us to present our products,’’ says sales manager Geert Klerkx of Oerlemans Plastics.
Improving profitability
,,A visit to our stand at the Horti Fair is intended to contribute to improved profitability for growers,’’ explains Leony Tensen from Horticoop (stand number 02.0102). This total supplier to horticulture, with twenty branches in the Netherlands and also in North and South America, Africa, Southern Europe and North Western Europe, translates its ambitious goal into five product groups, i.e. cut flowers, evergreen and flowering plants, greenhouse vegetables, and tree nursery products. ,,We supply everything a grower needs, including advice. And we communicate this added value on the stand as well. In addition, we use the Horti Fair to introduce new products,’’ says Tensen. The head of marketing and communications is not yet revealing the new products Horticoop will be showing or precisely how the stand will look. ,,We want to surprise our visitors as well,’’ she insists.
Interesting locations available
Just as in other years, some segments of the Horti Fair are oversubscribed, while space is still available in others. Sales of stand space for the 2010 edition are continuing as usual therefore, although all participants have already received the exhibition layout. The aim is to achieve the clearest possible layout at the Horti Fair for the trade visitors. Halls 1 to 6 inclusive of the Amsterdam RAI are being used for this year’s Horti Fair. Special interest pavilions increase the appeal of the Horti Fair in 2010 as well and fulfil an important function in the transfer of knowledge, which is one of the objectives of the Stichting International Horti Fair.
New pavilion: Technical Trials
Technical Trials is a new pavilion featuring leading technical producers at the Horti Fair 2010. They want to give international horticultural entrepreneurs the most complete possible impression of Dutch horticulture within a short time by means of inspiring company visits. At the Horti Fair these producers are represented in a Central Station, where visitors can obtain information and make a choice from among the participants that can be visited: the latest technologies, from the drawing board to implementation in practice, including the developers’ stories! There are already twelve participants (Leen Huisman, FormFlex, Metazet, WPS Horti Systems, Berg Product, Priva, De Gier Drive Systems, Glass Handling Technic, Van der Knaap Groep, Visser, Flier Systems and Beekenkamp) and the goal is to have sixteen companies taking part this year. Demokwekerij Westland, in alliance with Beekenkamp and Priva, is the initiator of the Technical Trials (stand number 04.0417), which are also right in line with the plans for the Holland HortiWeek. Starting in November 2011, this will be a single week in which Dutch horticultural trade fairs and events present their activities.
Other special interest pavilions at the Horti Fair are the AVAG Market, Career Plaza, Breeders’ Market, House of Software, House of Quality and the House of Technology & Innovation. Sector-specific developments are showcased in these pavilions by specialized companies/organizations, so that visitors are given a complete picture of current and future trends all at once. ,,Ranging from technique and technology shown by exhibitors and in pavilions, to the always fascinating and greatest judging event worldwide for flowers and plants in the House of Quality. The Horti Fair 2010 is complete, innovative and rewarding,’’ says exhibition manager Mia Timmer with conviction.
